This bio is dedicated to my family. No one else could possibly have the patience to read it all.

After Capuchino I went to CSM and earned an AA in Business.  I was employed by a couple of companies in Admin. jobs until I joined IBM in 1981.  I worked for them for 10 years and found out that IBM stands for ‘I’ve Been Moved’.  In my ten years I worked in Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale and the last 5 years I was the Education Coordinator for IBM’s Santa Clara location.  I truly enjoyed my job...until they did away with Education.  I took an early retirement package which helped buy my favorite home in Millbrae, on Capuchino Drive behind Cap’s football field.  (I had owned & sold 8 houses up & down the Peninsula; I was a gypsy).

Fortunately, while at IBM I had gone to night school and gotten my real estate license.  I have been in real estate since 1992.  I currently work as a Referral Agent for Alain Pinel Realtors which provides some income with minimal time required.

I married the first time at  27 but it only lasted three years.  I did keep his last name and for the next 20+ years I was Pam Patrick.  It was so easy and I never had to spell my last name like my maiden name ‘Quarg’.

I met Ron Herriott and his lovely wife of 30+ years on a Capuchino High School reunion cruise (for all years) to Mexico. My girlfriend, Judy Krueger Monozon and I were both divorced and decided to go together.  Judy was seasick most of the cruise so I had my meals with Ron and his wife. They were nice and made sure to introduce me to their friends. (Judy and I were the only ones from the Class of 1965,  where were you guys???)  I would go back to the cabin and tell Judy that if I ever married again it would be to someone just like Ron.  I didn’t know that his wife had cancer and would pass away the following year.  It turned out that I was working with one of their closest friends and after Ron’s wife passed away this mutual friend got us together.  It was strange as I had never dated a widower and he hadn’t dated in over 30 years. We found it amazing how much we had in common...except I had 2 dogs, no children and he had 3 grown children and no dogs.

Oh yes, did I mention Ron was my paper boy growing up!  Dad always said he was our best paperboy ever!  Ron and I dated for over two years before we married in May 1998 with all the kids and our granddaughter in our wedding. (When I met Ron I was a brunette, married him as a blonde and am now a redhead which he likes best.)  Ron has two sons, Guy and Mark and one daughter, Michelle.  Michelle is married to a great man, Adolf and they have 5 1/2 years old twin girls, Breanna and Shayla.  By a previous marriage Michelle also has a 17 year old step-daughter, Amanda, that doesn’t live with them.  Guy has a terrific winery, Fenton Herriott Vineyards (named after Ron’s father) located in Placerville.  The tasting room is open daily from 11am to 5pm, plus they have fun events. Guy’s wines have won many ribbons, medals and recently his Tempranillo won a gold medal.   www.fentonherriott.com

Some couples renew their vows after 25 years...Ron and I don’t know if we’ll make it to that number, so we renew our vows every 2.5 years and what fun we’ve had. We went to Las Vegas in 2001, Makena, Maui in 2003, Paris in 2006 and back to Maui in 2008. Michelle and Adolf were married at our ceremony in 2003 and renewed their vows with us in 2008.  Any suggestions for a new location in 2011?

I had volunteered many hours for 15 years at the Peninsula Humane Society with Kassi, my previously rescued Shih Tzu. She and I would go out to schools each week to teach pre-school through third graders how to be responsible pet owners through audience participation. She and I were also certified as a Pet Assisted Therapy Team so we could visit nursing homes.  After her passing at the age of 16, I chose to mentor new pet therapy teams going with them to nursing homes for their first visits.  Unbenownst to anyone (including Ron) I started looking on Petfinder.com to possibly rescue another Shih Tzu.  After 1 1/2 years of looking I found the sweetest face staring back at me from the computer. Upon contacting the rescue group I was told there were over 100 adoption applications in for her.  I explained that I wanted to train her to do therapy work and also had the Humane Society and my Vet call them.  I got a phone call saying my application was the only one that made sense.  This 11 pound dog loved people and needed a job.  Ron and I drove to Santa Ana to pick her up and what a doll.  Makena loves riding in the car and has been to Oregon, Nevada, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah and all over California with us.  After becoming a certified Pet Assisted Therapy Team we started visiting nursing homes as well as Alzheimer Wards on the Peninsula.  We are also involved with East Palo Alto Library’s Quest Program where children who have English as their second language are embarrassed to read in front of their peers.  These delightful children read to Makena and even show her the pictures.  This program has truly shown these children’s school grades have improved which makes me proud.  Makena and I were recently certified to visit Hospice patients and when these terminally ill patients pet Makena and smile this is my greatest reward.

My newest endeavor is becoming the Secretary for the Millbrae Community Foundation. We provide support, assistance and encouragement to the people of Millbrae.  Community donations have provided After School Youth Programs, the School Crossing Guard Program and the Senior Health Faire Brown Bag Program.  We are currently working on many other projects for the city.

Ron and I have been lucky to do quite a bit of traveling even though he is still working full time (been at the same location for over 44 years).  Our favorites have been Italy, Germany, England, France, Switzerland plus a number of cruises to the Caribbean, Bermuda, Mexico, around the Hawaiian Islands and Alaska.  In 2003 we bought a condo in Maui and enjoy vacationing there once or twice a year.  We just had our condo remodeled and can’t wait to see the finished results when we go back in November.  Anyone want to go with us?

Ron and I truly have a blessed life.
